Nowadays, Google's risk control trend is becoming more and more stringent. I believe that many friends who are doing Google Play developer listing have higher and higher IP requirements. For most developers, they basically choose to use VPS.

VPS was still OK in the past few years. With the increasing demand for going overseas in recent years, many VPS pools have been polluted, especially Alibaba Cloud, Amazon, and Tencent Cloud, which are the three most used. It is easy to open an unclean IP.

A proxy IP address is a network technology that allows users to access the Internet through an intermediary server instead of connecting directly to the target website or service. In the process of launching an application, choosing a suitable proxy IP address can help developers circumvent geographical restrictions, improve security, and increase the success rate of launching an application.

Here is a brief introduction to the difference between computer room IP and residential IP:

1. Residential IP: Residential IP is an IP address assigned to a home network by an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and is usually used for daily Internet activities. Residential IP is usually connected to a real home user, and the user identity is more realistic. Many websites treat residential IP as a real user visit, which is suitable for market research and user analysis. The probability of being blocked is lower, but it will be slightly worse in maintaining stability.

2. Computer room IP: Computer room IP is a computer room center with many servers. Computer room IP has the characteristics of fixed IP, stable online, and relatively cheap price. However, computer room IP has serial numbers and uneven regional distribution, which makes it suitable for businesses that require long-term online, such as hanging up, downloading, and disguised access. Usually VPS is computer room IP. Google Play now has special treatment for Google developers for computer room IP, which is easy to be identified and blacklisted. Computer room IP is easy to be polluted, AI risk control, but the price is relatively lower.

   

How to quickly distinguish IP types?

Here is an example. I used ipinfo to detect the residential IP proxy I just got from ipfoxy. It shows type=ISP, which is the real residential IP, and type=hosting/business, which is generally the IP of the computer room.

2 . Proxy Performance 

1. Purity : A clean IP means that the IP has not been "blacklisted" or abused, and is only used for your business. Choose a "clean" IP address that has not been used for inappropriate activities, such as cyber attacks or spam, and is not blacklisted. This can increase the success rate of your app on platforms such as Google Play.

2. Exclusiveness : This IP must not be shared and only your machine is using it. You can pay attention to how the IP provided by the proxy service is delivered. Most residential IPs are dynamically allocated, so it is inevitable that they may be duplicated with other users. However, some agents' static residential IPs are independently allocated, and the IP address is not shared with other users during the lease period.

3. Authenticity : Residential IP addresses are closer to the network environment of real users. Therefore, when using online services, such as accessing Google Play, Netflix, Hulu, etc., these service providers may trust access requests from residential IPs more. If they are real, it is best to be native or assigned by a local ISP, which is generally more authentic.

   This is why I recommend using IPFoxy residential ISP proxy over VPS, because many VPSs are in computer rooms and are shared by many people or abused.

In addition to the above requirements, the others are relatively minor. You should also pay attention to the following when choosing a proxy IP:

A. Legality

Developers must ensure that the IP addresses used are legal and avoid using blacklisted IP addresses. If non-compliant IP addresses are used, the application will be removed even if it is successfully launched.

B. Geographic location matching

The geographic location of the proxy IP address should match the target market of the application to ensure compliance and user experience, so the proxy region should be selected to match or be close to the target market.

C Authenticity when submitting your application

When submitting an app, a real IP should be used to ensure that the developer account information matches the actual location. This may trigger additional review during the listing review process. Residential IP proxies are generally acceptable.
