Amazon Account Bans & INFORM Consumers Act: A Seller's Guide

Just in early February of this year, Amazon’s the INFORM Consumers Act were updated again, and the verification conditions and standards changed. Sellers are required to complete the verification work for the new year in a timely manner, try to pass it in one go, and do a good job of daily maintenance of the store, otherwise they will still face a high risk of being blocked.

Ⅰ. Verification Guide

Go to the backstage - Performance - Account Status. If verification is required, in addition to receiving an email, the account status page will also have a prompt "Your account is at risk of being deactivated". You can see the information that needs to be verified below, including but not limited to identity, phone number, bank account, office address and tax number, etc.

A green ✔ means that the item has been verified, a circle and blue hyperlink text means that the verification has been triggered, a clock pattern and blue hyperlink text means that the verification is in progress, and a circle and gray text means that the verification has not been triggered yet.

1. Identity: The business license and legal person ID card are consistent with the registration information, are valid and in normal business status.

2. Address: This may trigger a postcard verification, and you will need to enter the postcard code sent to the address in the verification information. The address you fill in during the verification should preferably be a registered address where you can receive postcards or bills.

3. Telephone: Use the same number you used when registering.

4.Tax information: Sellers from mainland China should fill in the unified social credit code of their business license, and sellers from Hong Kong, China should fill in the business registration certificate number.

Ⅱ. Common Verification Issues

1. How to resubmit after identity information verification fails?

Below the prompt box that says "Your account is at risk of being deactivated", there will be a red verification item and the word (Reverify). Click - Get more help - I want to open a store - My account - Restore account.

2. What should I do if I cannot enter/there is no verification entrance?

Click “Contact me now” in the Account Health Protection Plan box on the right side of the Account Health page to request Amazon Seller Support to regain verification entry and channel.

Directly update information: edit information directly in the business information module and submit.

Check your mailbox: You may receive emails similar to the audit results at each stage of the verification process. Usually, there will be a case ID. Find the corresponding case in the problem log based on the ID, reply to the email, and submit new information.

3. How to avoid similar verification or account blocking risks?

If a verification requirement appears, you must verify it. If you fail to pass the verification within the required period, your store will be closed.

The updated verification of the Consumer Act is generally aimed at high-sales sellers (200 pieces + $5,000 standard line).
